Full Moon in Aries; Honoring Eagle & Corn

On Friday we have a Full Moon in the bold and fiery sign of Aries. The Full Moon in Aries blazes across the sky with fierce, unapologetic energy. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, the spark that begins it all. This energy is primal, raw, and deeply connected to courage, independence, and self-discovery. When the moon glows bright in this fiery sign, it illuminates our truest desires and the parts of ourselves that long to break free. Aries is ruled by the planet Mars, the planet of direct action and a full moon in this sign will push you into direct action.

The energy of Aries is very dynamic and blunt and can thrive with life on the edge, the chase is more thrilling than the reward. They are willing to take a gamble or follow their dreams. Use this energy to dive into what has been standing in your way of doing this with a full and open heart. Use this combative and spicy spirit of Aries to push through the barriers you have in esteem and being seen by others.

This is not a gentle moon.

Aries doesn’t whisper: it roars. It pushes us to face what’s been holding us back with honest fire and to act with conviction. The question it asks is simple but powerful: Where have you hesitated to take action out of fear or self-doubt?

Full moons always bring release, and under Aries, that release comes through bold movement; through choosing yourself, even if it feels uncomfortable. This is a time to let go of hesitation, of the need for external validation, and of the old identities that no longer fit. Aries teaches us that self-awareness and self-assertion are not selfish, they are sacred acts of truth.

You might feel a rush of restlessness or the urge to act on something that’s been simmering beneath the surface. This is the universe’s way of clearing the stagnation that’s been building. Let it move through you consciously. Rather than reacting impulsively, channel the fire into transformation. Move your body, express your truth, write, create, or cry: whatever allows the energy to flow.

Indigenous Teachings: Corn & Eagle

This Moon is our Harvest Moon (also called the Corn Moon), The Corn Moon has long been a symbol and teaching time of abundance, gratitude, and deep connection to the cycles of the Earth. It is the full moon closest to the autumn equinox and for centuries, this moon has guided communities in marking the time of gathering, not only of crops, but of lessons, insights, and spiritual growth cultivated throughout the year. This moon invites us to think about the next generation and our path to becoming elders by paving a good way for those coming in.

In the beginning of creation, corn asked to be developed in husk to slowly acclimate them. Corn took many days and nights to grow, gaining insights and wisdoms about the world around them. Their seeds sprouted in neat rows all bunched together, holding unique dreams, hopes and visions for the future.

Corn loved and nourished each seed as they grew larger and as the seeds came into full maturity they broke through the husks and fell to the earth to share their unique medicines with all. The seeds learned collaboration with beans and squash (the three sisters) and have since become staples in Native diets and teachings about carrying out visions for the future.

The message of the corn moon is to think of the work you are doing now as the ground work for the incoming generations. (Especially for cycle breakers) Corn asks us to review, what is the legacy that we are leaving beyond?

The animal medicine of this moon is the mighty Eagle. The Eagle’s medicine is their higher perspective and ability to rise above. Eagle is our gateway to our spiritual path. With the energy of the eagle we can hold our vision of what a healed life and existence looks like in our minds eye, for ourselves, for our commutes and for our planet.

Aho.

This moon reminds us of an ancient wisdom that still speaks clearly today: We are not separate from the Earth; we are a living part of her cycles. When we plant seeds, tend them, and later harvest their fruit, we are participating in a sacred exchange. What we take must be balanced with what we give. Gratitude and awareness are the heart of sustainability, something Indigenous peoples have known and lived for generations.

Shadow work:

  • Where in my life have I been impulsive?

  • Where am I resisting changes in my life?

  • Where in my life have I been meek or timid?

  • In what area of my life do I have the most self-doubt?

  • What do I need to let go of to reignite my fire?

Allow yourself to sit with your answers and visualize these energies you are working to let go of, start to loosen their grips and release. Come back to this every Full Moon to reengage with your practice and let go a little more each moon cycle.

Full Moon Affirmation: “With every intentional action I take, I am conscious about the impact I make on future generations, the earth, and my kin. My legacy matters and I create a ripple of love with my intentional flight. I am the medicine"
