Meet the Practitioners

J.L. Spain

Jess Spain - Founder, Spiritualist, Meditation Teacher & Astrologer

I am a Portland Oregon Native, Cow-Creek Umpqua enrolled spiritualist, astrologer, writer & artist.

I started my esoteric studies as a child and they have grown to be a part of who I am now. There is no formal education route for these kinds of studies, and I have spent years in self-study, in classes with teachers who have a higher level of knowledge than I do and I apply these to my own life, as a teacher and a student.

Prior to Covid, I was a counselor for several years where I developed my own group curriculum focused on mindfulness, DBT skills, and emotional intelligence.  I graduated from Portland State University with a B.S. in psychology and a minor in child and family studies.  My focus as a counselor was on the Indigenous community in my area. I am a level II Reiki practitioner and a certified yoga (200hr) instructor, and I have been a formal meditation student since 2020  with ongoing training. I also attended the Nightlight Astrology School in 2021 for Hellenistic Astrology.

I believe in the transformative power of shadow work and astrology. I have applied these to my own life with mindfulness training and the results have been inner peace. I hope to bring these enlightening tools to others and help them to also find some peace in this life. One of my greatest teachers said, "The only way out is in."

Emilie Turner - Intuitive Medium & Resin Artist

emilie

I am a compassionate intuitive medium, artist, and advocate for holistic healing. Throughout my life's voyage, I have encountered significant challenges and setbacks, each of which has contributed to my growth and understanding of resilience. From childhood to young adulthood, I faced obstacles that tested my strength and perseverance, ultimately leading me on a path of self-discovery and healing.

Grief Guidance & Death Education
I am on my way to becoming a death doula. There is something beautiful in the process of dying that is hard to find in the culture we live in that is so focused on immortality. I believe knowing our wants and needs at the end of life is vital. Preparing for the next journey while saying goodbye to the present one. Being someone to help navigate between feelings and family for support is a blessing that I take with so much graditude.
Navigating the journey of grief can be overwhelming, but you don't have to walk alone. Through compassionate support and practical tools, I can help individuals in their journey grief, through my own experiences in loss. It is not linear, there is no right or wrong way when experiencing those powerful deep emotions. From my own journey of diving into the feelings I have found meaning in loss and hope in connection while transforming pain into helping others.
