Falling Leaves Moon in Taurus

We have a beautiful full moon in the strong and soft sign of Taurus on Sunday October 25th. Taurus energy is very dualistic naturally. Taurus energy, seeks comfort and security. During times when the moon is full in this sign, we are being asked to take a deeper look at the blocks in our safety and security.

Taurus is definitely known for that rigid and stubborn energy, which can be a huge blocker of flow. Using the releasing energy of the full moon, this is a great combination for letting go of blockers of abundance and feeling rooted and secured in self. Our rigidity has a way of making us feel like doing the same thing that we’ve always done is secure, when in reality it’s detrimental. Taurus energy in the full moon phase welcomes release to those illusions of security that are actually rooted in routine.

Taurus is one of the three earth signs and, in my opinion, one of the most rigid. Once that Taurus energy makes up its mind, it is very hard to get it to move. One of the best ways to break up this tightness is to ask yourself what holding on is benefiting. That can speak very loudly to the pleasure seeking of Taurus, if you ask yourself how this area or item or relationship is bringing you pleasure or benefiting you. Not to say that we need to have some sort of gain out of every relationship, but in all of our relationships, there must be a positive return, whatever that may be, that creates reciprocation.

Letting go is one of the hardest things for the Earth signs to do so if you’re feeling resistance to let go, that is the energy of Taurus clinging to what it is familiar with.

Indigenous Story for this moon: The Falling Leaves moon

The indigenous story for this moon revolves around the leaves that fall from the trees this time of year. The trees share their teachings with us about what happens when we learn to let go, when we surrender and release, we make room for things to enter.

The name of this moon, the following leaves moon comes from this time of year when the trees remind us the power and beauty of letting go as they let go of the leaves. Sometimes and letting go it is very painful and it involves death. Our story this month and our animal medicine involve the buffalo.

There was a time when the buffalo were plentiful and roamed free across the land. The land was expensive and abundant with resources, and the buffalo were the deepest friend of the first people. There was a deep mutual respect between them, and the people who lived on the lands, depend on the buffalo for their survival and their relationship to them was essential. They offered the buffalo honor and gratitude every day and always remained in connection to them.

A dark time came over the land, and the people, colonization took over everything and poison. The land, the animals, and the people. That dark force attempted to eliminate the first people’s and and a way that they knew they could hurt their spirits and threaten their survival was to eliminate the buffalo. The dark forces of colonization did this in a disrespectful and horrible way burning the buffalo so that the first nations people could use no parts of them and could give them no honor.

Thousands of buffaloes were lost they were almost completely eradicated, but much like the first nations people, their spirits were resilient. They trusted that there was a reason for their deaths and their spirit sword to the stars. The stars remain a symbol of hope that they would one day come back and roam the Earth again. From the stars, they offered and blessed the first nations people. This is why we pray to the stars to the sky for protection and abundance from our kin. The spirit of the Buffalo reminds us that there is much beauty to be found in letting go.

Buffalo medicine is one of the most powerful medicines of support, liberation, and abundance. It can be very challenging to learn to let go of heaviness that we’ve kept in our hearts in our minds and our spirits. But the buffalo is here to help. remind us that we are worthy of abundance when we clear out the old and make room for what is meant for us. The buffalo energetically is solid and secure and strong. A force that can be arrested on and trusted. This animal medicine reminds us that we are worthy of this deep support needed to let go.

Full moon affirmation “ all things moved through natural cycles. Just like the leaves on the trees and the plants on the Earth it is safe to let things go through death. As I release, I make room for what is meant to touch my life. When I acknowledge what has to come to an end I let go and find abundance waiting for me. I am taken care of always. I am the medicine.”

Shadow work:

  • Am I standing in my own way somewhere in my life?

  • I trust in….

  • How can I create room in my life for abundance?

  • What am I holding on to right now?

  • How can I move towards letting it go?

Other astrological influences:

This full moon is coming in hot with the Venus retrograde we all have been feeling and Mercury is also hitting a retrograde this weekend, adding some additional energy for slower movement into the zodiac. Pay attention to your body and how it feels when you are around others, that signal that you are receiving is information from your nervous system.

These retrogrades are begging for PAUSE in the areas of relationships and communication, so take your time with your words and pay closer attention to the way your body feels. Is it at ease or tense after seeing that one friend? Do you feel nauseous after a phone call? Is your belly warm and your mind feels in a cloud after lunch with them? These are the signals from your body on how your energy is being affected, take note and move in the direction of your highest self - slowly.

Happy Full moon! For more ways to tap into this energy over the next few days: see the ritual guide HERE. And be on the look out for my new full moon book coming this Winter!
