Flower Moon in Scorpio

On Friday we have a Full Moon in the sign of Scorpio. This is our flower moon, bringing us the medicine of the flower, teaching us the power of believing in ourselves and our own ability to be our guide on this journey, to be our own medicine. The flower moon represents blooming one what was once closed, an invitation to be open and allow for more flow. This moon also brings us the animal wisdom of the butterfly, reminding us that the greatest transformations happen when we go within ourselves. It takes great courage to go within, to have faith in ourselves and in the universe. The courage it takes to do this is the medicine of the Flower Moon. In order to fully bloom, we first must believe in the seeds we are planting and help to nourish their continued growth.

The energy of Scorpio can feel secretive, but this is due to the intimate nature of this energy. Scorpio is not easily seen, this energy seeks to remain hidden, which is why in the full moon phase this is such a beautiful invitation to do deeper, to unearth some of those shadows to offer them your light. In these darker corners of self, this is where the deepest transformations will happen, when we allow flow, when we are able to let go of preconvened notions and expectations. In this space of openness, we can truly see ourselves and the healing that comes from open vulnerability is one of the most powerful healing energies there is.

Breaking through the blocks of intimacy, of being seen, this energy is a deep well of connection if you can sit long enough to connect to it. If you have ever met a Scorpio, you know they are incredibly deep feelers who are sensitive to the energies outside of themselves as well as the inner well of energies too. Take this time to tap into your deeper river of emotions, the hidden ones, the feelings that have been begging to be seen, to rise to the surface, allow them to come forward for love and attention. Let the blocks to these pathways of connection dissolve as you find comfort and solace within your own being.

The energy of Scorpio is the perfect energy for diving into shadow work. Scorpio is one of the most emotionally deep signs of the Zodiac, a full moon in this position invites the purge of what you have been holding onto, both consciously and subconsciously. Particularly in the areas of intimacy, hidden thoughts and motives and in emotional exploration.

One of the most basic rules of thumb I have for healing work is to match the energy of what I feel with an opposite action. If I am feeling a lack of intimacy in my life, If I feel disconnected, I reconnect with myself, I get intimate with myself. I do something to bridge that gap with myself. When I feel the sting of abandonment come up, I show up even harder for myself. I don't run away from the painful feelings, I stand up and hold my own hand. Taking charge is aligned with that heat of Scorpio, facing the shadows head on with courage is the very essence of what it is to be aligned with your higher self. Using this intensity of Scorpio, we can dive a little deeper into self, facing some of those more sensitive shadows connected to intimacy, hidden thoughts and emotional intensity.

Indigenous Teaching: The Flower Moon

In the beginning of creation, the Creator planted many seeds in the Earth. Each seeds held their own magic, their own gifts, that they would share with the world. Each seeds was a little bit different, hold their own particular medicine to offer the world. As the days went on, the seeds stayed huddled up under the ground, safe and warm, dreaming of what they could be someday.

One day Sunflower woke up from a dream and shared what she had envisioned. She shared with  the other seeds that she had dreamt of becoming a big tall flower, reaching for the sun. Rose chimed in and said that she too had a vision of becoming a bright red flower, bringing sweet nectar for the bees. After other seeds shared what they had dreamt of becoming, they knew that they would have to build their courage up to venture out past the safety and comfort of the soil. The seeds decided it was time to start their journey upward, to the unknown.

The seeds travel into the wide and vast unknown, each taking their own pathway. The journey was full of twists and dangers. There was no clear path to take and no one to guide the way. At times the seeds were washed backwards by the rain, dug up by animals and each day of the journey helped them to build their resilience and root further downward, trusting that they were on the right path.

After a long journey, the seeds began to see the light from the sun begin to shine through the soil. The seeds reached for the sun and started to crack open, their colors and vibrancy emerged through and they began to bloom. Each seed bloomed into a beautiful flower, remembering their arduous journey as seeds. The flowers looked back on their journey to acknowledge their courage, strength, resilience and determination as they trusted their inner voices as their guide to reach the sun.

The Flower Moon is our reminder to trust in the journey, in our inner guide, as we reach for the Sun.

The animal medicine for this Moon is the butterfly, mirroring the message of transformation. We gain much insights and wisdom from the struggles on our path. (The obstacles ARE the path.) The butterfly reminds us that to become our higher selves, this beautiful butterfly, we first must endure the dissolving of what we were to become who we are meant to be. Letting go is one of the messages of the butterfly, and of the full moon.

Ask yourself, what has been standing in the way of these deeper transformations and how can I work to let that go little by little this moon cycle?

Embracing the energy of transformation, change, and the intimacy of our journey within this moon cycle to help that inner guide forward. YOU are the best guide you have, YOU are the medicine you seek. In doing work like this, you invite them to come take the driver's seat with you.

Full Moon Affirmation: " As I reconnect and remember that my gifts are profound, I open my spirit to the light of creation. I am fully ready to blossom and shine. I am the medicine."
