Self compassion - the inner voice

I think one of the easiest ways to engage in self compassion, in rewiring how you tend to yourself, is an acknowledging the inner tone.


What is the tone of your inner voice?

Is it kind and compassionate, or is it judgmental and harsh?

Does your inner voice support you when you need it or does it criticize you when you’re stumbling?

When you make a mistake, what is the first phrase that pops into your head?

Is it challenging for you to say nice things to yourself?


These are all questions to ask yourself to investigate what’s going on with your inner narrative. The way that we exist with ourselves on the inside, in our minds, and in our hearts, this is the space where compassion for ourselves is developed. If your little in your voice is not encouraging and loving, that’s okay. Investigating through shadow Work (with prompts like above) can help to read frame and retrain your mental formations/your inner narrative.
