Raspberry - Aquarius Full Moon

We have our Full Moon for August on Wednesday the 29th. This Moon is in the sign of Aquarius.

Aquarius energy is associated with themes of innovation, community, and humanitarianism. It brings to us an invitation for breakthroughs, restructuring, and a focus on how to achieve collective belonging through the process of letting go during this full moon cycle. This Full Moon asks us to deeply examine our morals & values and walk away from the people, places, and things that are no longer aligned with the path we are walking.

Aquarius energy is connected to rebellion and not going with the masses. This energy is deeply tied to honoring the uniqueness within. This is an invitation to examine those areas in which you have been called to step outside of the “norms”. This is your higher calling to break out of those pressures imposed by others and flow onto your own path. Aquarius energy doesn't care what anyone thinks of her, she walks with her head held high in the direction of her highest self, and now is your opportunity to do the same.

This energy shift calls for evolution and transmutation and a beautiful reminder the cycles of trauma and pain can be broken.

Indigenous Story: The Raspberry

Long ago, when the earth was young, a controlling and dominating spirit began to take over the earth. A great imbalance grew and fear amplified.

This dark spirit traveled to where the berries grew, imposing judgments and harsh perceptions onto them. Placing harsh energy around their appearances and differences, these spirits noticed that the young raspberries bore no fruit. This spirit began to separate the young raspberries from their elders and kin and their hearts broke. The raspberries were placed in a small space with harsh conditions and all that was familiar was gone. These young plants deeply missed their relatives and all the love that once surrounded them. They began to lose connection to their spirit, their purpose and their inner fire. Thus, they had lost their reason for growing.

One day, Grandfather Sun heard what had happened to the young raspberries and demanded the controlling spirits to return them to their homes. The spirits agreed. When grandfather sun saw how broken and fragile the raspberries had become, he infused the warmth of the sun into the berry and welcomed them back to their rightful place.

The raspberries grew and had an abundance of children. And with each passing generation of berry, their resilience grew as they remembered the wisdom passed on from their ancestors' pain. Little by little, the raspberries reclaimed their identity, until one day the beautiful sweet berry we know today emerged. The raspberry is a reminder that we can learn to walk through the thorns of our pasts, generation traumas, and find the wisdom that lies within it. That's when we truly can become the fruit we were always meant to be.

The animal medicine for this moon is the Porcupine.

This medicine reminds us to free ourselves from guilt and shame. The thorns our ancestors have experienced may still be within our energy, but with each generation we can move further into healing.

You are worthy of reclaiming your divine nature, your lineage. Especially for indigenous peoples, and people whose ancestors were stolen from their lands and brought to the Americas, reclaiming our identities is a central part of the healing work we are here to do.

**And if you don't know your lineage, your ancestry, you can always look to the stars. Each star is your kin, they have been here for a million, billion years and are a part of you. These star beings are full of profound wisdom and light, they will guide you with unconditional love just as a grandmother or grandfather. We are all connected by their divine light and love.

Shadow work prompts:

  • What beliefs do I hold about community, and where did they come from?

  • Where in my life do I feel restricted or stifled?

  • When do I feel emotionally free?

  • Where do I feel the pains of the past in my present?

  • What outdated beliefs I need to release to feel more aligned with my higher self?

Full Moon Affirmation “ I allow this Moon of reclamation to amplify my connection with my well and vital ancestors. May I continue to feel worthy of reclaiming the medicine that lives in my bones and blood. I am the medicine.” (Asha Frost)

Happy Full Moon!!
