The Tao of Joy
This is something out of one of my faviortie books of all time, The Tao of Joy Everyday by Derek Lin.
This is one that I do read daily and I also share this one in most of my yoga classes while we rest in savasana.
Day 292
LIFE AFFIRMATION
Give yourself the gift of a powerful and positive affirmation ta-day: life is good.
Keep the affirmation in mind as you step out of your home.
Feel the breeze on your face and ponder the miracle we call the world. How marvelous that it provides us with everything we need to survive and thrive. It feels great to be alive.
Keep the affirmation in mind as you greet everyone. Notice the basic decency and kindness that people possess. They are all right.
You like them. It is good to be among people. It is good to enjoy mutual courtesies and to see their smiles.
Keep the affirmation in mind as you return home. Silently give thanks as you enter its protective embrace. Sigh in satisfaction as you rest in its warmth. This is the cherished place where you can relax and be yourself. It is good to be home.
The Tao Today
Maintain an open mind about this affirmation, and see if you can feel it resonating with you throughout the day. If so, you will know that it is not a superficial exercise. You are not pretending to feel good or forcing yourself to smile. What you are feeling is the natural resonance of the truth, and you are touching something deep and genuine. You are tapping into the Tao.
